ISO 10012:2026 Measurement Management Systems International Standard Officially Released

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) officially released ISO 10012:2026, “Quality management — Measurement management systems requirements,” in February 2026. As the most significant upgrade since the 2003 version, the new standard strengthens measurement process control across all dimensions, bringing profound technical and systemic impacts to the weighing and metrology of construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, and cranes.

Construction machinery weighing systems often employ dynamic measurement methods such as hydraulic sensing, pin-shaft force measurement, and tension detection, which have long faced complex operating conditions and errors, including vibration and shock, temperature drift, hydraulic fluctuations, and electromagnetic interference. The new ISO 10012 further standardizes metrological verification, measurement uncertainty assessment, and continuous improvement requirements, driving the upgrade of weighing systems from hardware adaptation to precise measurement. At the technical implementation level, the new standard requires full-chain traceability and periodic verification of weighing sensors, data acquisition units, and dynamic compensation algorithms, optimizing calibration strategies based on on-site operating conditions, and improving key technical indicators such as nonlinearity, hysteresis, and repeatability.

Meanwhile, the new standard strengthens risk control in the measurement process, standardizes technical procedures such as dynamic weighing timing, posture compensation, and zero-point calibration, effectively improving the stability and reliability of dynamic measurement. For construction machinery weighing systems that combine overload protection, moment limiting, and material settlement functions, the new standard makes their measurement results more traceable and credible, better aligns with OIML, GB, and other metrological technical specifications, and enhances equipment safety and trade settlement reliability.

The release of ISO 10012:2026 marks a new stage in quality management for construction machinery weighing and measurement, characterized by greater rigor, intelligence, and standardization, providing core system support for the industry’s technological upgrading and high-quality development.
