Introduction

The SZ-TC01 load moment indicator (LMI) system is an essential safety component specially developed for truck cranes. It continuously monitors the crane’s real-time load, working radius and boom status to effectively prevent equipment overload and overturning accidents. By collecting and analyzing mechanical operating data and equipment technical parameters, the system delivers timely and accurate visual and audible safety warnings to operators throughout the lifting process, fully safeguarding on-site operational safety and compliance.

Key Components of the LMI System

1. Display Unit

   • Rated lifting capacity (safe working load)

   • Actual load (measured by sensors)

   • Boom length (from length sensors)

   • Boom angle (from angle sensors)

   • Shows real-time data such as:

   • May also display wind speed, outrigger status, and radius (working range).

2. Hydraulic Pressure Sensors

   • Measure the load on the crane by detecting pressure in the lifting hydraulic system.

   • Convert hydraulic force into an electrical signal for the LMI processor.

3. Boom Length Sensors

   • Typically a potentiometer or encoder that tracks telescopic boom extension.

4. Boom Angle Sensor (Inclinometer)

   • Measures the boom’s angle relative to the ground.

   • Critical for calculating load capacity (higher angles generally allow heavier loads).

5. Control Unit (Processor)

   • Computes safe working limits based on sensor inputs.

   • Compares actual load vs. rated capacity and triggers alarms if limits are exceeded.
