  • I. Introduction

As a key equipment in construction projects, the safety of excavator operations is directly related to the project progress and personnel safety. The Load Moment Indicator, as a core device to ensure the safe operation of excavators, is of great significance.

  • II. Composition and Principle

Sensor Group: It includes angle sensors, pressure sensors, and distance sensors. The angle sensor is installed at the hinge point of the boom, which can sense the angle change of the boom in real time. The pressure sensor monitors the pressure of the hydraulic system to reflect the load size. The distance sensor accurately measures the working radius. These sensors are like the human senses, providing basic data for the system.

Controller: It receives data from sensors, quickly calculates the actual torque through built – in algorithms, and compares it with the preset safe torque. Once an abnormality occurs, it sends commands to the display screen and the alarm device. It is like the “brain” of the equipment, responsible for core calculations and decision – making.

Display Screen: Installed in the cab, it can display key parameters such as the angle of the boom, the working radius, the actual torque, the safety threshold, and the system status in real time, allowing the operator to have a clear understanding of the operation situation.

Alarm Device: It consists of lights and a buzzer. When approaching the safety threshold, the yellow light flashes and is accompanied by a low – frequency buzzer sound. When exceeding the threshold, the red light flashes and a high – frequency buzzer sound rings, warning the operator to immediately stop dangerous actions.

Power Module: It takes power from the DC24V power supply of the excavator itself, stabilizes and filters the voltage, and then supplies power to the entire device to ensure the stable operation of each component.

  • III. Function and Value

The torque limiter can effectively prevent safety accidents caused by overloading, misoperation, etc. It greatly improves the safety of excavator operations, reduces equipment damage and maintenance costs, ensures the smooth progress of the project, and provides protection for construction projects.
